Alcomdale Boil Advisory - LIFTED

Alberta Health Services has approved removing the boil advisory for the Hamlet of Alcomdale residents and has granted permission to reuse the drinking water supply, effective November 7.

The hamlet of Alcomdale has been under a boil advisory since June 2013, after the untreated well water failed tests for giardia and cryptosporidium which posed health concerns.

Since that time, Sturgeon County Council and Administration have been working on an action plan to create a permanent solution to the community’s water issues.

As part of the action plan, Council approved the water pipeline route as recommended by Stantec Engineering. The water pipeline extends from Township Road 554, and up Range Road 264 into Alcomdale. This waterline now provides water service to Alcomdale hamlet and to rural customers who opted to connect to the service.

“All the conditions stipulated under the order had been compiled with and the water supply for the Hamlet of Alcomdale is safe for human consumption.” - Alberta Health Services
