Annexation Negotiating Sub-Committee Update

Meeting held August 7, 2020

The City of St. Albert and Sturgeon County’s Annexation Negotiating Sub-Committee met on August 7, 2020 to discuss the City’s proposed annexation of a portion of land from Sturgeon County.

At the meeting, the sub-committee discussed aspects of the draft annexation agreement, including compensation and roads.

“The City and the County continue to work extremely hard to find a workable agreement on all facets of the proposed annexation,” says City of St. Albert Councillor and sub-committee chair Ray Watkins.

“Sturgeon County is pleased that negotiations continue and looks forward to future discussions as we work to finalize important decisions, including on transportation matters that are so important to our residents,” says Sturgeon County Mayor Alanna Hnatiw.

The Annexation Negotiating Sub-Committee is a subset of the Intermunicipal Affairs Committee (IAC), which is comprised of all members of both Councils.
