Sturgeon County’s Tom Eppinga never expected to share his farming expertise with four daughters. Today, his girls (who range in age from 16 to 24 years) are active participants on the Eppinga farm, whether it’s managing beef freezer orders, haying, or out in the field combining.

The Clark farm in Sturgeon County is a well-known entity in the “triangle” for most local residents. It’s no wonder, considering five generations of Clarks have called the property—midway in what’s informally known as the triangle linking St. Albert, Morinville, and Namao. 

Sturgeon County steps up to support non-profits

Council commits an extra $89,400 for 28 local organizations

On February 23, 2021, Sturgeon County Council approved providing a one-time grant to 28 different local non-profit organizations. Altogether, an extra $89,400 will be allocated to support the work of Sturgeon County’s 17 community associations, nine seniors’ associations, and two arenas. The one-time grant will be in addition to the funds received as part of the 2021 Community Organization Operating and Capital Grant funding program.

What do you use the internet for?

It’s almost a silly question because, in 2021, the answer is: nearly everything.

Municipalities have long been ringing the alarm bell of why high-speed internet is a necessity, not a luxury. Since the early 2000s and broken promises of the Last Mile of the Supernet, rural municipalities have been calling upon the provincial and federal governments to address rural connectivity.
