Amendment to the Land Use Bylaw 1385/17
In accordance with section 606 of the Municipal Government Act, Sturgeon County Council is requesting public input on proposed Bylaw 1587/22.
CN advises they are beginning their Annual Vegetation Management Program in Sturgeon County. Vegetation that is on a railway right-of-way, if left uncontrolled, is a safety hazard.

The RCMP, Canada’s national police service, provides policing service to approximately 7,500 residents within the Town of Redwater, Thorhild and Sturgeon County. The Redwater Detachment consists of eight regular members, an integrated six member RCMP and Sheriff Traffic Services Unit, support staff and a Victim Services Unit.

As tragedy continues to unfold, Sturgeon County stands with the people of Ukraine and all Canadians of Ukrainian heritage. Sturgeon County has been working with its regional partners to identify how our communities might be best positioned to assist Ukrainian nationals relocating to the area via the Canada-Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel program and have coordinated an approach to emergency social services.
Property taxes to increase by 1.8 per cent
During the April 22, 2022, meeting, Sturgeon County Council passed the Tax Rate Bylaw, which includes a 1.8 per cent tax increase for 2022.
If you are a student and a resident of Sturgeon County, consider applying for the Dale MacMillan Memorial Scholarship for Community Leadership. This award recognizes two Sturgeon County residents that practises community leadership and involvement.
Program will enable residents to make energy efficient investments in their buildings while reducing their impact on the environment and heating costs.
On April 12, 2022, Sturgeon County Council approved the Clean Energy Improvement Program (CEIP) Tax Bylaw. This program offers residents a chance to lower their utility bills and increase property values by providing funding for efficiency upgrades and renewable energy systems.

R2 – Country Estate Residential District to AG – Agricultural.
