Proposed changes to Land Use Bylaw focus of November 9 Council Meeting
Sturgeon County Council Meeting Recap | November 9, 2021
The Land Use Bylaw was the focus of the November 9, 2021, Sturgeon County Council Meeting, where Council gave first reading to the following bylaws:
- Bylaw 1560/21, which proposes changes to the existing Land Use Bylaw to keep the document current and to address technical and other clarifications. There are 72 proposed changes, including three proposed new land uses, additional terminology, two proposed new sections, and a variety of technical changes.
- Bylaw 1561/21, which proposes minor amendments to 39 land use descriptions to better reflect either the existing use of the parcel or to align with other plans, such as an Area Structure Plan.
- Bylaw 1568/21, which proposes a temporary redistricting of Block B Plan 1484NY from Agriculture District to RVS – Recreational Vehicle Storage. The parcel in question is part of the Sturgeon Valley South ASP and is designated for future residential use; however, as development is not anticipated in the near future, if granted, approval of the RV storage operation would be subject to a time-limited Development Permit. The proposal considers storage of up to 510 recreational vehicles.
Public hearings for the proposed bylaws will be scheduled at a future date.
