Applied Suicide Intervention Training (ASIST)

Learn to identify people who are struggling and how to help.

Thanks to funding provided by Pembina Pipeline Corporation, Sturgeon County is proud to offer ASIST workshops to help keep our friends and neighbours safer from suicide.

ASIST is a two-day workshop designed to help family, friends, and other community members identify someone at risk of suicide and provide them with the skills needed to make a life-saving intervention.

The ASIST workshop is highly interactive, practical, and practice oriented. It focuses on teaching suicide first-aid to help a person at risk stay safe and seek further help.

This program is open to all Sturgeon County residents over 18-years-old. You don't need any formal training to attend the workshop.

To learn more about the ASIST program and register for upcoming workshops, call 780-939-8335 or email

If you are having suicide-related thoughts, please call 780-482-HELP (4357) or 911 for immediate help.
