Subdivision and Development Appeal Board
The Subdivision and Development Appeal Board is a quasi-judicial board that plays an important role in helping Sturgeon County meet its obligations under the Municipal Government Act. This board includes public member representatives who hear appeals regarding proposed subdivision of lands or other development activities.
The board meets as required and only if appeals are filed by the proposed land developer or other parties affected by the development. Members are paid for attending meetings per the Board and Committee Public Member Remuneration Policy. Serving on the Subdivision and Development Appeal Board is a great way to learn more about municipal property development and the role of boards and committees in supporting Council decisions. Review the Subdivision and Development Appeal Board Bylaw for more information.
The Subdivision and Development Appeal Board is made up of six (6) public members and two Council members. Term of membership is three (3) years and begins on January 1 of the given year.
