Mayor Flynn’s Charity Golf Tournament Raises over $20G

Sturgeon County, Alberta - Sturgeon County Council presented donations to two local seniors’ organizations, totaling $20,994.45 during the regular Council meeting on August 22, 2017.

The funds were raised through generous sponsorship and registrations at the Mayor’s Annual Golf Tournament hosted at Sturgeon Valley Golf and Country Club on Friday June 23, 2017.

““On behalf of Sturgeon County, I am thankful for the generous donations from the participants and sponsors of the 2017 Mayor’s Golf Tournament.  With the support of businesses and the community, the tournament raised over $20,000 to support local seniors housing,” said Mayor Tom Flynn.

The West Sturgeon Aging in Place Foundation operates the West Country Hearth facility, providing affordable housing within a rural setting with a non-profit objective. The second recipient, Homeland Housing is a non-profit organization that provides subsidized housing for seniors managing facilities in Sturgeon County and surrounding areas.

The event hosted a full flight of 152 golfers and was organized by the Sturgeon County Corporate Communications and Economic Development departments.
