Part 1: Field Production
Tuesday, December 7 at 7:00 pm
This session looks at the vegetable and fruit industry, giving an overview of its size and composition as well as trends and shifts over the past 20 years. Rob will review vegetable, potato, and fruit crops for their potential opportunities and pitfalls. By highlighting the key considerations for each of these crop types Rob gives growers insight for planning their production.
Part 2: Protected Growing Systems
Tuesday, December 14 at 7:00 pm
This session reviews the covered edible and ornamental crops industry, including greenhouse and vertical operations. Rob will outline the component parts of the industry, including size and scale. He will highlight considerations for getting into the various industry segments, such as capital and operational costs, competition, market demand, and skill requirements. The session includes a review of the pros, cons, and cautions of vertical operations.
