Fire Restrictions lifted for Sturgeon County

Effective 4:30 p.m. on May 19, 2021 Sturgeon County has lifted any Fire Restrictions. All previous fire permits that were issued that have not expired are re-instated. Residents wishing to obtain a new fire permit can do so by online at sturgeoncounty.ca, by contacting Protective Services, or from their local Fire Guardian/Councillor.

Residents are asked to be patient when applying for fire/firework permits. Requests received online, by phone, fax, and email will be processed in the order they are received. Staff’s goal is to review and approve all permit applications within two business days.

Although the Fire Restriction has been lifted Sturgeon County Protective Services urges everyone to use extreme caution, follow burn permit conditions, and when working or driving off highway vehicles such as quads and side-by-sides in grassy areas, to be mindful of hot exhaust and to keep vehicles clean and free of debris as smoldering debris can fall off and start fires. Sturgeon County Protective Services will continue to monitor moisture impacts, as conditions change fire restrictions or bans will be re-implemented.

For more information, contact Sturgeon County Protective Services at 780-939-8400.
