Mayor Hnatiw discusses broadband at Federal Government’s Standing Committee on Finance Meeting

On Tuesday, May 18, 2021, Sturgeon County Mayor Alanna Hnatiw participated in the Federal Government’s Standing Committee on Finance (FINA) to discuss Bill C-30, An Act to implement certain provisions of the budget tabled in Parliament on April 19, 2021, and other measures.

In her presentation, Mayor Hnatiw discussed issues around broadband access for rural Albertans, including the failure of the private sector to meet high-speed internet service needs for businesses and residents in rural areas and the stressed the importance of government intervention and investment.
