Sturgeon County defers first reading of temporary mask bylaw

During a Special Meeting of Council held on September 2, 2021, Council postponed first reading of a proposed temporary face coverings bylaw until the next regular meeting of Council to be held on September 14, 2021.

It is important to note that the majority of Council voted in favour of deferring the matter to a later date; the debate was regarding the merits of the postponement and not about the validity or merits of the bylaw itself. The proposed bylaw will come before Council again on September 14.

There is no face coverings bylaw currently in effect within Sturgeon County. Residents should check with the requirements of other municipalities that may have mandatory masking requirements.
