Project Background

Sturgeon County nearly 1900 kilometers of roads to maintain. Many of these roads have fewer than 200 vehicles per day traveling down them and are classified as ‘local roads’. Typical local roads have a gravel surface and are designed with a 20-year lifecycle. The ongoing assessment of these roadways and their re-design, reconstruction or rehabilitation is the purpose and intent of the Local Roads Program (LRP).
