Because of people like you … Sturgeon County is finding ways to embrace our farming history with a vision for the future.
The Agricultural Service Board (ASB) plays an important role in ensuring Sturgeon County is informed of the needs and priorities of the agricultural community. The ASB also advises Council and administration in the development and implementation of strategies and plans relevant to the agricultural sector including the Agriculture Master Plan. The board makes recommendations to Council on other agricultural matters including weed control, pest control, and soil and water conservations programs.
Members of the ASB also participate in the ALUS Partnership Advisory Committee by reviewing and approving conservation projects proposed by local agricultural producers through the ALUS Sturgeon program.
The board meets five times per year, and members are paid for their time at meetings.
Serving on the board is a great way to learn more about the future of agriculture and the role of boards and committees in supporting Council decisions. Board experience is also an impressive addition to your resume and can help expand your network.
