Fire: Morinville Colony September 15 – Under Control

2:55 PM: 🚨 Fire Update 🚨

Thanks to the efforts of 40 firefighters, the fire north of Rivière Qui Barre at the Morinville Colony is now under control.

While the community’s mess hall was lost, crews did an outstanding job minimizing the spread to other buildings. Thankfully, there have been no reported injuries, and no additional support is needed from the Colony at this time.

Fire crews will remain on-site throughout the day to monitor and extinguish hotspots. While Hwy 44 remains open, please continue to stay clear of the area if possible, to ensure everyone’s safety. Thank you for your cooperation!

10:35AM: Crews are currently responding to a large fire 12 km north of Rivière Qui Barre along Highway 44 at the Morinville Hutterite Colony. Please avoid the area and give emergency personnel room to work safely. Stay tuned for updates as they become available.
