Sturgeon County, AB – Sturgeon County is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Travis Peter as Interim Chief Administrative Officer (CAO); this appointment follows the departure of Reegan McCullough, who served as Sturgeon County’s CAO until September 30, 2024.
Mr. Peter has been with Sturgeon County for over six years, with his most recent role being General Manager of Development Services. In this position he oversaw the County’s growth and investment priorities, focusing on business attraction and retention, economic diversification, infrastructure/land planning, and community development. Mr. Peter previously managed several other portfolios for the County and has an extensive public and private sector leadership background.
“We are excited to have Mr. Peter step into the role of Interim CAO,” said Mayor Alanna Hnatiw. “His extensive experience and love for our community makes him the ideal leader to guide Sturgeon County’s administration during this time. We are grateful for his readiness to build on our successes.”

Council is in the early stages of the recruitment process for a permanent CAO and will provide public update once the role has been filled.
