NEWS RELEASE – Sturgeon County Recognized by Invest Alberta for Championing Economic Growth

Invest Alberta has recognized Sturgeon County with a special belt buckle award for its outstanding contributions to advancing investment opportunities in the region. The award was presented during the Calgary Stampede on July 8, 2026.

In Alberta, a belt buckle represents hard work, earned respect, and the pioneering spirit that continues to shape the province. Invest Alberta presents the award to partners that have gone above and beyond to champion Alberta and strengthen relationships that make investment happen.

The recognition highlights Sturgeon County’s ongoing commitment to working collaboratively with partners across Alberta to support business investment and create long-term economic opportunities for residents and industry.

“Partnerships are essential to economic development, and this recognition reflects the collective efforts of the many organizations and leaders working together to grow Alberta’s economy,” said Alanna Hnatiw, Mayor of Sturgeon County. “We are proud to work alongside partners who share our commitment to responsible investment and sustainable prosperity in our region.”

Invest Alberta says partnerships amplify Alberta’s strengths, help investors navigate opportunities with confidence, and ensure that when the world looks to Alberta, it sees a unified team ready to help them succeed.

Through initiatives led by its Economic Development team and the Invest Sturgeon program, Sturgeon County continues to work with regional, provincial, and industry partners to promote investment, support business expansion and position the region as a destination for economic opportunity.
