As Alberta’s economy continues to evolve, it’s essential to address the skills gap within our workforce to remain competitive. One of the most effective ways to build a skilled workforce is through apprenticeship programs. These programs provide individuals with on-the-job training and classroom instruction in various trades, offering an excellent opportunity for employers to tailor a skilled workforce to their needs.
There are over 50 designated trades and occupations available to pursue through apprenticeship programs in Alberta. These programs support traditional trades like electricians, plumbers, and carpenters as well as emerging occupations like web designers and computer network technicians.
Employers that invest in apprenticeship programs can reap a variety of benefits, including:
attracting and retaining skilled workers, reducing training costs, andimproving productivity.
By participating in apprenticeship programs, employers can help address the growing demand for skilled workers in Alberta while contributing to overall economic development. Their participation also offers individuals the opportunity to earn while they learn, providing a pathway to a rewarding career in a skilled trade. Take advantage of these programs and help build a skilled workforce in Alberta.
