Project Highlights

The County is looking improve drainage within the Villeneuve Drainage Basin to better handle spring flows and significant rainfall. ​

Bridge maintenance work is planned on a number of structures throughout the County this year as maintenance needs are identified.

The 2022 planned/completed works include:​

The upgrading of the drainage channel between Rge Rd 264 and just downstream of Rge Rd 263 (completed)​

The installation of three bridge culverts, located at ​

  • Rge Rd 263
  • Rge Rd 262
  • Mid-way along the channel between Rge Rd 263 and Rge Rd 262

What to expect

An approach that provides immediate drainage relief to the area while also putting in place the foundations for future medium- and long-term improvements.​

A robust operation response plan – proactive snow removal in the unimproved portions of the Villeneuve Drainage Channel as well as innovative flood protective measures (an extension of our spring readiness plan)​.

Background

The County is looking improve drainage within the Villeneuve Drainage Basin to better handle spring flows and significant rainfall. ​

Some of the challenges are

  • the flatness of the land
  • poor drainage capacity
  • long distance to/from the Sturgeon River which leads to flooding

To provide relief, the planned improvements are intended to upgrade the capacity of the Villeneuve Drainage Channel.​

The 2022 planned/completed works include:​

– The upgrading of the drainage channel between Rge Rd 264 and just downstream of Rge Rd 263 (completed)​
