On March 13, Morinville RCMP responded to a complaint of a suspicious vehicle on Range Road 254 in Sturgeon County. Police attended and located a 2007 GMC Sierra stolen from Vimy. A 25-year-old woman, a 26-year-old man, and a 34-year-old man were all arrested and charged with possession of stolen property.
On March 14, Morinville RCMP responded to an attempted vehicle theft in Bon Accord. The suspect vehicle, a 2006 Chevy Silverado stolen from Edmonton, fled from police but was later stopped in Legal with the use of a spike belt and after colliding with a police vehicle. A 29-year-old man and a 33-year-old man were arrested and charged with flight from police, possession of stolen property, resisting arrest, possession of crystal meth and fentanyl, and numerous weapons-related charges.
On March 20, Morinville RCMP responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle on Range Road 244 in Sturgeon County. Police attended and located a 2017 Toyota Tacoma that had been stolen from Edmonton. A 40-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman were both arrested and charged with possession of stolen property. The male suspect was also charged with failing to comply with previous release conditions.
On March 27, Morinville RCMP, along with Sturgeon County Family and Community Services, participated in the annual Youth Takeover event at the Morinville Leisure Centre. During the event, the detachment’s School Resource Officer joined a ‘Pop With a Cop’ question and answer session with local youth on spring break.
