Effective December 1, 2025, a recreational OHV/ATV ban remains in place for the following area within Sturgeon County: 
- East of Range Road 212 to the North Saskatchewan River Â
- South of Twp 580 to the North Saskatchewan River Â
This ban is in place as this continues to be the site of restoration efforts following the Redwater Recreation Area wildfire incident in Spring 2025. The ban applies to recreational use of OHVs/ATVs as well as snowmobiles, quads and dirtbikes, and does not apply to resident use on private property. 
This ban will be strictly enforced. The fine for ban violation is $500. To report a violation, please contact 780-939-8418. 
The public is reminded that the Redwater Recreation Area remains closed by Alberta Parks until further notice. The OHV/ATV ban will be lifted when the park is reopened to the public. We thank you for your assistance in respecting the OHV/ATV ban and the park closure. Failing to obey a park closure order may lead to a fine and a mandatory court appearance.
