Heavy rain is expected to begin Friday (June 19) and continue through to Sunday evening, with total amounts of 50 to 90 mm. This could lead to localized flooding, water pooling, soft roads, washed-out shoulders, and reduced visibility.
The County is always prepared for changing weather conditions. Crews respond first to active damage, then to areas at highest risk, followed by lower-risk locations.
Public safety remains Sturgeon County’s top priority. If roads become flooded or washed out, they will be closed as needed. If you encounter a closed road, please avoid the area and find another route.
Transportation Services will dispatch crews with the intention of preventing or resolving damage in accordance with the following priority sequence.
- 1A: Immediate damage to public infrastructure
- 1B: Immediate damage to private infrastructure
- 2A: High risk of damage to public infrastructure
- 2B: High risk of damage to private infrastructure
- 3A: Medium to low risk of damage to public infrastructure
- 3B: Medium to low risk of damage to private infrastructure
Avoid riverbanks, ditches, culverts, drainage channels, low-lying areas, and do not drive through standing water.
Residents are encouraged to take preventative steps at their homes such as checking sump pumps, ensuring downspouts are functioning properly, and clearing gutters of debris.
