Council considers tax penalty cancellation Request for Tax Roll 3418001

Council heard a request to cancel property tax penalties.  Council will decide on the matter at the December 13, 2022, Council meeting.

Council revises the 2022/2023 Council Boards, Committees and Commissions appointment list.

An amendment was needed to the appointments for members of Council to serve on internal and external Boards, Committees, and Commissions, adding Councillor Derouin as an alternate member to the Capital Region Northeast Water Services Commission.

Council accepts the 2022 Audit Service Plan as information.

A representative from MNP presented the 2022 Audit Service Plan, which detailed the approach, scope, and timelines to conduct the audit in accordance with the Canadian Public Sector Accounting Standards. Council received the plan as information.

MNP was appointed by Council to conduct financial audit services for the financial years 2022-2025 at the June 28, 2022, Regular Council Meeting.

Council gives first reading of the Major Investment Incentives Bylaw 1600/22

The Major Investment Incentives Bylaw is focused on attracting significant investment from target industry projects in Value-Added Agriculture and Solar Power Production to Sturgeon County. The Bylaw is complimentary to the Heartland Incentive Program and Bylaw, which supports different sectors within the energy value chain, allowing Council to provide tax incentives as per the Municipal Government Act (MGA). Council will consider second and third readings at the December 13, 2022, Council meeting.
