Cardiff Park Skating Trail
Sharpen your skates and get your family & friends ready to join us for this free ice-skating adventure! The trail winds through the trees in a full loop, making it accessible for new and experienced skaters. An open ice rink is also available.

Cardiff Park; 25023 Township Road 554, Sturgeon County, AB
Accessible from Cardiff Park Road. Parking is available near the baseball diamonds.
Important Information
- Open daily 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Please note that Cardiff Park is gated and closed daily at 11:00 p.m.; trail status is weather dependent.
- Trail lights are on daily from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
- There are no skate rentals available.
- Sturgeon County staff maintain the ice and will clear snow from the skating trail and walking paths before 10 a.m. If snowfall occurs after 10:00 a.m., snow removal will take place the following morning prior to opening.
- The trail is free for everyone to enjoy.

Trails

Most trails are open for use at any time. The Red Ribbon Trail, which is located in Cardiff Park is subject to Cardiff Park hours (daily from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m.). Trails are open for use year-round. At times, areas may need repairs and will be barricaded as required.
Level of Difficulty
- Easiest – Minimal elevation change over areas of paved or hard footing. Wheelchair accessible.
- Easy – Slight elevation change over areas of paved or hard footing surface.
- Moderate – Defined elevation change over areas of paved or hard footing surface, possibly stairs.
On-Site Parking
Lamoureux Trail, Fort Augustus Trail, Red Ribbon Trail and Bellerose Trail all have identified parking areas that can be found on the printable PDF maps linked in the interactive trail map (Click the trail map to view the downloadable PDF). The remainder of the trails rely on street parking for access.
Trail Etiquette
- Stay right and yield to slower-moving traffic.
- Share the trail with other users like cyclists, skaters, and walkers.
- Leash and clean up after your pets.
- No motorized or off-highway vehicles are allowed.
- Horses are not permitted on the trails.
