Property Reinspection

Sturgeon County assessors complete property inspections on a regular basis to ensure professional assessment standards are met. Assessment standards require that property characteristics be reviewed at least once every five years to capture any property changes resulting from maintenance, new construction, renovations, or demolitions.

Throughout the year, assessors may be on your property for the following reasons:

  • Annual inspections – These inspections are required to follow up on new permits for construction or demolition, to affirm use of the property, or to verify property sales information.
  • Supplemental inspections – These inspections are required to follow up on buildings or structures that were incomplete by December 31st of the current assessment year.
  • Reinspection program – Also referred to as ‘cyclical reviews.’ This applies to properties included for review in the County’s five-year reinspection rotation. Owners are contacted by mail when their property is up for reinspection.

2025 inspection updates

Sturgeon County property assessors continue following up on new and existing permits and property sales to complete the 2025 annual and supplemental inspections.

During regular business hours (Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.), you may see Sturgeon County assessors in Sturgeon County vehicles taking photographs of the exterior of buildings and properties. Assessors will be wearing Sturgeon County identification and driving Sturgeon County trucks while conducting these assessments.

There are no property reinspections planned for 2025.

Street-level image capture program

Sturgeon County is continuing the street‑level imaging work that started in 2025, to help improve property inspection processes and customer service.

Over the spring and summer, you may see County vehicles with cameras driving along public roads in parts of the County. These images will help assessors plan inspections more accurately and focus on the areas that need it most.

The pictures will also be helpful for residents. They will provide clear, up‑to‑date views of roads and neighbourhoods on Google Maps’ street view when you need to look up an area of the County.

Things to keep in mind:
• this work will happen during regular business hours
• vehicles will be clearly marked
• staff doing this work will be wearing Sturgeon County ID
