Community Supports

Sturgeon County offers programs to encourage residents to get to know each other through different activities, and celebrate the people who are making a positive impact in the community.

Community Spirit Award

Recognize an outstanding neighbour who contributes to making Sturgeon County a safe, welcoming and inclusive community.

You can nominate a neighbour who has helped you or others in a time of need. Anyone can be a great neighbour by doing small things that mean a lot, such as shovelling snow, sharing food, mowing the lawn or helping with household tasks. These small things can have a big impact on others.

Nominate a neighbour

Each month, nominees will receive a card and small gift thanking them for being great neighbours and adding to Sturgeon County’s community spirit!

Community Cleanup

Show your community spirit by picking up litter in your backyard, around your neighbourhood, or in a favourite green space. Register online and pick up your free supplies from the Sturgeon County FCSS office.

Cleanup kits include:

  • garbage/recycling bags
  • garbage pickers
  • work gloves
  • safety vests
  • flags
  • first-aid kit

If you are planning a large-scale cleanup on a County road, Sturgeon County can also supply road signs and 20-yard garbage bins.

Wellness on Wheels

2024 Wellness on Wheels events will be posted soon!

Wellness on Wheels is an opportunity to have some fun and connect with the people in your neighbourhood!

Sturgeon County staff will be on hand with goody bags, some treats, and helpful community resource information. We hope that you will stop by, say hello, and take the opportunity to spend some time with the people in your community.

We would also love to take this opportunity to learn more about your neighbourhood and any ideas you might have for how we can support you in making it even better!
