Utility Maintenance Programs

Sturgeon County technicians complete regular preventative maintenance programs.

Essential Maintenance

Our Utility and Waste Management Services technicians complete regular preventative maintenance such as:

  • water main flushing
  • water main preventative maintenance (may include replacing infrastructure)
  • manhole inspections
  • valve inspection and testing

Water Sampling

County technicians need to access your property to collect water samples for testing to ensure the water we supply is of the highest quality. As much as possible, samples will be taken from exterior faucets per Alberta Health Services (AHS) guidelines.

Our operators will always be driving a Sturgeon County vehicle, and will be identifiable through their Sturgeon County issued ID badge.

Sanitary Sewer & Storm Line Flushing

Sanitary Flushing takes place every year in Cardiff and the Sturgeon Valley area, usually in June. Watch for signs and check the website for scheduling.

Emergency Repairs

The Utilities Department is also responsible for repairing any breaks within the system. If an emergency repair is needed, we will make every attempt to notify residents and businesses by:

  • door-knocking
  • posting signs in the area
  • issuing notices via social media.
