Recreation & Activities

Sturgeon County is home to pristine natural ecosystems like forested areas and wetlands to highly manicured urban parks that include playgrounds, trails and sports fields.

In the summer our parks and trails serve as a way to get active and spend time with friends and family. In the winter, they double as ice skating rinks – like our skating loop in Cardiff Park – or cross country ski trails. There are plenty of outdoor recreation opportunities for the whole family.

Operations Update - June 30, 4:30 p.m.: Flood levels are dropping across the County. Sturgeon River remains high, residents near Big Lake have been alerted. Monitor Big Lake levels via the Alberta River Basins button. Crews remain active with pumping and repairs to key infrastructure. Please stay away from river banks.

All Sturgeon County offices are closed Wednesday, July 1, for Canada Day.
