Please be advised that a Special Council Meeting has been called for Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at 1:30pm in Sturgeon County Council Chambers (and available online at https://www.sturgeoncounty.ca/government-engagement/council-meetings/).
This meeting has been called to address the following time-sensitive items:
- Advancing Major Investment Infrastructure in the Industrial Heartland, and
- Dual Fuel Fleet Conversion Pilot.
The Municipal Government Act (under section 194) provides Council with the authority to hold a Special Council Meeting if it decides a meeting is necessary.
Under the Local Authorities Election Act (under section 9) a Council’s term does not conclude until immediately before the first Council meeting following a municipal election (known as the “organizational meeting”), therefore the County’s current Council continues to hold the authority to meet and make decisions until that time. Sturgeon County’s organizational meeting is occurring on October 28, 2025.
