Sturgeon County peace officers and the RCMP provide bylaw enforcement and policing services to the area and its citizens.

Bylaw/Peace Officers

Peace officers patrol communities and respond to complaints. Enforcement Services ensures County bylaws – such as the Animal Control bylaw, Dog Control bylaw, Regulation of Traffic bylaw and Community Standards bylaw – are followed by residents, businesses and visitors.

Enforcement Services also enforces provincial legislation, such as the Traffic Safety Act and the Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act.

RCMP

The RCMP are responsible for responding to and investigating all criminal matters, including the following:

  • vehicle collisions
  • theft and home invasions
  • drug-related crimes
  • organized crimes
  • economic crimes such as counterfeiting and credit card fraud

Various RCMP detachments serve Sturgeon County.

Sturgeon County is committed to neighbourhood development, including responsive policing.

Knowing the real picture of neighbourhood crime reported to the RCMP is the first step in doing something about it. Neighbourhood crime is more than just numbers; it’s about knowing where crime is happening.
