Get Outside in Sturgeon County

Sturgeon County’s trails offer something for everyone, whether it be a leisurely stroll through history on Lamoureux Trail, or a trek down Fort Augustus.

The Get Outside Trail Map offers information on how to get to our trails, the length and level of difficulty, and if there are any usage restrictions. When applicable, you can also find historical background and links to additional trail information.
When you click on the map, you’re able to view information about that trail and view photos and trail status.

Trail Levels

Easiest – Minimal elevation change over areas of paved or hard footing. Wheelchair Accessible.
Easy – Slight elevation change over areas of paved or hard footing surface.
Moderate – Defined elevation change over areas of paved or hard footing surface, possibly stairs.

Most trails are open for use at any time. The Red Ribbon Trail, which is located in Cardiff Park is subject to Cardiff Park hours.
These hours are as follows: Monday through Sunday, 5:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.

When You Arrive

Trails are open for use year-round unless major repairs or upgrades are underway. Areas under minor repair will be barricaded as required.
Trail maintenance takes place between May 1 and September 30.

Lamoureux Trail, Fort Augustus Trail, Red Ribbon Trail and Bellerose Trail all have identified parking areas that can be found on the printable PDF maps. The remainder of the trails rely on street parking for access.

Trail Etiquette

  • Stay right and yield to slower moving traffic
  • Share the trail with other users like cyclists, skaters, and walkers
  • Leash and clean up after your pets
  • There are no motorized or off-highway vehicles permitted
  • Horses are not permitted on the trails

    There are dog bags and receptacles on multiple Sturgeon County trails. The bags can be found on the Sturgeon County trail signs.
