The fire and off-highway vehicle (OHV) ban issued on May 2 remains in effect in Sturgeon County.
Due to the high risk of fire, Sturgeon County and the towns of Bon Accord, Legal and Redwater remain under a fire and OHV ban.
No outdoor fires are allowed until further notice, including:
- recreational firepits
- open fires
- burn barrels
- incinerators
- fireworks
- chimineas
- solid fuel (charcoal, pellets, etc.) barbecues
Note that while the recreational use of OHVs is allowed on public (provincial/Crown) lands in many areas of the province, OHV use in Sturgeon County is not allowed.
You can still use cooking and recreational appliances – such as fire tables, barbecues, smokers and patio heaters – that can be turned on or off using a switch or valve (propane, natural gas or electric). Commercially sold cooking and recreational appliances, including smokers, can be used with caution.
Sturgeon County urges the public to use extreme caution when working or driving in grassy areas and to keep vehicles clean and free of debris as smoldering debris can start fires.
