Public Hearing: Bylaw 1675/25 (Resource Extraction Operation Proposal)

Sturgeon County Council requests public input on proposed Bylaw 1675/25. This Bylaw would redistrict SE-12-57-21-4 from AG – Agriculture to RE – Resource Extraction.

The proponent (SIL Industrial Minerals) is seeking to develop a natural resource extraction operation, specifically silica sand extraction. As this land is currently designated as ‘Agriculture’ which does not allow this type of activity, redistricting is being proposed to accommodate or allow for the associated uses.

Each time land is redistricted, a bylaw is needed to amend the Land Use Bylaw, and a Public Hearing must be held.
