Safe Communities

The Safe Communities Facilitator plays a crucial role in promoting public safety and crime prevention at the community level. Key responsibilities of this position include: 

  • Community engagement and relationship building 
  • Research and analysis 
  • Program development, implementation and facilitation 
Community Engagement and Relationship Building 
  • Build strong community relationships to raise awareness and address safety issues. 
  • Liaise with community groups, law enforcement, local municipalities, and non-profit organizations to create programs and initiatives that improve public safety.  
Research and Analysis 
  • Analyze data and crime statistics to understand trending issues and inform decision-makers 
  • Make recommendations to Council on relevant community issues and safety priorities 
  • Research and monitor emerging crime prevention strategies and promote implementation.  
Program Development, Implementation and Facilitation 
  • Developing educational materials advocating for personal, public, and corporate safety and security.  
  • Facilitate or educate public (including children, youth, seniors and corporate stakeholders) in various crime prevention or public safety programs.  
  • Identify and implement crime prevention and reduction strategies.  
  • Lead workshops and outreach initiatives.
